Man Shot in Domestic Dispute

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Emergency Room personnel at Wayne Memorial Hospital that they were treating someone for a gunshot wound.

The shooting victim, Thomas Jefferson Dawson of Saulsberry Drive, Goldsboro had a gunshot wound to his left hip area. According to Mr. Dawson, he and his wife, Classie Best Dawson of Sawood Place, Goldsboro were having a conversation at his residence when she said she was going to kill herself.  Ms. Dawson then pulled a revolver from her handbag and shot Mr. Dawson.  Ms. Dawson left and Mr. Dawson drove himself to Wayne Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.

50 year old Classie Best Dawson was arrested by Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury.  No bond was set because this incident involved domestic violence.
