**Update** Though we were able to locate the Police report detailing the accident, we could not identify the three women who assisted the couple after the accident. The report stated that EMS did check out the couple from McLean, Virginia and they did not seek further medical treatment.
A reader sent in a letter to Goldsboro Daily News to thank three unnamed Good Samaritans who helped her parents during a relentless storm that left the area saturated with rain. We are posting her comments in hopes to reach and recognize those who went out of their way to help others.
Tonight, March 7, 2014, my parents drove off the edge of an embankment in Goldsboro, in the rain, and wound up on the railroad track below, most likely totaling the car.
My parents are okay, but they might not have survived if not for the heroic efforts of three young African-American women who witnessed the accident, called 911, stopped, and assisted my parents with an umbrella, a hat, and a strong leg up the embankment.
I cannot thank these women enough for their selfless and quick response, for saving the lives of my parents, who were most likely in shock.
Whomever and wherever you are — Thank you. So very, very, much. You are my Heroes.
