Major King with the Goldsboro Police Department says around 1:20 this morning, two armed, black males jumped through the drive-through window, forced the manager and one employee to the office and demanded money at gunpoint. The Manager was pistol whipped during the robbery and the two suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
A third black male stood outside the restaurant as a lookout.
Shortly after the robbery was reported, a Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy on patrol noticed a suspicious vehicle leaving the area and stopped it on Highway 70. One of the occupants of the vehicle was positively identified as a suspect in the robbery. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a handgun and some of the stolen money being recovered.
William Earl Warren Jr; 25, was arrested and charged with the following: 2 counts of 1st Degree Kidnapping, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of Stolen Property and Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail under a $255,000.00 Secured bond. He has a first appearance scheduled for Tuesday, April 15th.
Warrants have also been sought for the arrest of Joseph Simms, a 25 year old black male of 151 Wharton Dr. Goldsboro, for his involvement in this crime. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
The investigation will continue to determine the identity of the third suspect in this crime.
