Highway Patrol Traffic Advisory for Lenoir County

ncdpsAs a result of flood waters from the Neuse River, the State Highway Patrol would like to remind motorist of closed roadways in and around Lenoir County.  With travel still being affected by the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew in several portions of the state, officials request motorist use caution when driving.

Road Closure Information:

  • NC 55 is still closed between Kinston and New Bern

It is requested that motorist attempting to travel to New Bern follow US 70 to NC 43 and refrain from traveling NC 55.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol cautions motorists to remember phrase “Turn Around Don’t Drown”. More importantly, do not drive through standing water since it’s impossible to know how deep the water is or how swiftly it could be moving. And finally, DO NOT drive around barriers, which are in place for your protection.

It is requested motorist do not call 911 or *HP (*47) for roadway information.  For updated information on road closures, please visit ReadyNC.org., the ReadyNC mobile app or call 511.
