Winter Storm Watch Issued For Wayne County

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Wayne County and surrounding counties in effect from Friday night through Saturday night.

The system is expected to bring snow to the area Friday evening with the heaviest snow coming overnight into Saturday morning. The latest projections show Wayne County receiving up to 6 inches of snow with this storm. Forecasters with the National Weather Service do stress that any shift in the storm can affect snow totals

Jason Tyson with the NCDOT says crews have been working to treat roads with anti-ice brine mix and will continue doing so into tomorrow morning. Tyson told Goldsboro Daily News that all the major roads around Wayne County are being treated first then they will move to secondary roads. Personnel and equipment are being staged in advance of the storm so the DOT can respond when snow starts falling.
