Dudley Man Shot During Truck Transaction

Wayne County deputies were dispatched to 161 Cobb Coley Lane in Dudley yesterday in response to an individual being shot.  Deputies responded and located the victim, Omar Vann, suffering from a gunshot wound to his shoulder/arm area.  The victim was transported and treated at Wayne Memorial Hospital.  Detectives were dispatched to the area and to the hospital.  Patrol deputies, during their initial investigation, determined that the shooting had taken place at 198 Hack Drive in Dudley.

The detectives that were dispatched to the hospital were able to interview the victim.  The victim reported that he and a friend had gone to 198 Hack Drive to look at a truck for sale.  After looking at the truck, the victim and his friend left and later returned.  Upon returning, the victim went to the door of the residence where he was met by a known person who produced a handgun and demanded money from the victim.  The victim stepped back in an effort to leave and was shot in the right shoulder/arm.  The victim then ran and eventually ended up at 161 Cobb Coley Lane knocking on the door at this residence.  The occupant at 161 Cobb Coley Lane then called the 911 Center and reported that an individual was at their residence and had been shot.

Detectives who had responded to the Hack Drive area interviewed witnesses. Information received at this time indicated that the victim and one of his friends had arrived to 198 Hack Drive in reference to a truck for sale.  One witness reported that the victim got out of his vehicle and approached the rear of the residence.  This witness advised he was sitting in his vehicle when he heard someone tapping on his window.  When he looked to see who was at his vehicle, he saw a large build black male and a slender black male standing there armed with a large handgun.  This witness was pulled from his vehicle and was robbed of a debit card, an ID card and a pack of cigarettes.

The investigation progressed and detectives were able to determine the identity of the subject who shot Omar Vann.  Warrants have been secured for 30 year old Kelly Sharon Garner, from Dudley, for felonious assault with a dangerous weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury, felony armed robbery, felony attempted armed robbery, and felon in possession of a firearm.
