Roy Cooper says there were at least 260 traffic accidents between midnight and 6 a.m. He says after precipitation stops, bitter cold will blow in and refreeze any slush on the roads. The National Weather Service says Greensboro, Burlington and Roxboro have had more than 8 inches of snow.

The National Weather Service says precipitation will taper off by 4pm in Goldsboro. Skywarn spotters in the county reported 1/2 inch of snow and 1/8 inch of ice.
