Road Conditions Improving, Cold Temps Stick Around

The National Weather Service Winter Weather Advisory is still in effect until tomorrow for Wayne County. Sub-freezing temperatures will be with us until tomorrow morning, slowing down the thawing of local roads. Today’s expected high is 32 degrees but temperatures will be back down to 15 degrees overnight tonight.

Roads around Wayne County seem to be improving. Most main roads are clear but side roads still have slick spots. DOT and city crews have done a great job making sure roads around our county are safe.

Gov. Roy Cooper warned drivers to not be fooled by the sunshine. He says one person was killed Sunday and two injured when a car skidded off an icy Interstate 73/74 in Montgomery County.
