Suspect Arrested After Goldsboro Restaurant Robbery

One suspect has been arrested after a robbery at a Goldsboro restaurant.

Yesterday at approximately 9:40pm, Goldsboro Police officers were dispatched to Aggie’s Grill Station at 2814 Cashwell Dr. in reference to a robbery that had just occurred. The caller advised the suspect came into the restaurant, acted as if he was armed, and demanded money. He then went behind the counter, took money from the cash register, and fled on foot from the restaurant.

A suspect description and direction of travel was given to responding officers. A subject matching the description was located in the area behind Dick’s Sporting Goods. When Officers attempted to make contact with the subject, he ran from the officers. A short foot chase ensued and the subject was taken into custody a short distance away behind French’s Cleaners near Mall Rd. This subject was identified as 52 year old Jerry Lee Williams of 3402 Central Heights Rd, Goldsboro, NC. Further investigation determined that Williams was responsible for the robbery of Aggie’s. Money taken from the restaurant was also recovered.

Williams was arrested and charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Resist/Delay/Obstruct, and was served with two outstanding Orders for Arrest for traffic related offenses. Williams was held in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $156,000.00 secure bond with his first appearance in court scheduled for today.
