A nationwide movement is planned for today to show support for immigrants.
Organizers are calling for immigrants not to go to work, open their businesses, buy anything, and they’re also telling parents not to send their children to school.
A Day Without Immigrants is slated for today across the country with one planned at Moore Square in Raleigh. In Raleigh, about 30 businesses have posted signs on their windows saying they won’t be open on Thursday. David Salazar, who represents ‘Si a las Licencias (Yes to a License),’ one of the groups organizing the demonstration, says this is a grassroots effort.
Local activists say they want to show their opposition to President Donald Trump’s travel ban and crackdown on illegal immigration, including the border wall.
