Sandra Perry “Sandy” Barwick

March 2, 63, La Grange

Sandra Perry “Sandy” Barwick, conquered her earthly battle on Thursday, March 2, 2017. Sandy was born October 27, 1953 in Norfolk, Virginia to Mary Moore Perry and the late Joe Perry. Sandy fought the good fight and finished the race and is at home now free of pain.

Sandy was kind, gentle, and generous to everyone she knew. Her life revolved around her family and she especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Nothing pleased Sandy more than a visit from her family. A true eastern North Carolina lady, Sandy enjoyed the outdoors, warm weather and the beach. A warm sunny day at the beach, surf fishing and enjoying the sounds of the ocean made for a great day. She loved to knit and her family has many fond memories of her cooking. Sandy was a passionate follower of UNC Tarheel basketball and Tennessee Volunteer football.

Sandy had a special way of making everyone she came in contact with feel special. She was humble and never wished to bring attention to herself. She found great pleasure in the simple things of life. Sandy’s life was filled with humility, kindness, and a love for others that she displayed every time she smiled. Her sweet smile and gentle ways will be remembered and cherished by everyone that knew her.

Services to celebrate Sandy’s life will be held privately.

In addition to her mother, Sandy is survived by her husband of twenty seven years, Jim Barwick; four children, Steven Potter and his wife, Kelli, John Potter, Mack Barwick and his wife, Maury Ann, and Patrick Barwick and his wife, Molly; eight precious grandchildren, Noah, Carson, David, Luke, Savannah, Scarlett, Jessie and James; two siblings, Debbie McGowan and Beth Apperson; sister-in-law, Ivy Albertson; along with her faithful caregiver, Gale Washington.

Memorials to honor Sandy’s life may be made to the Leo Jenkins Cancer Center, c/o Vidant Health Foundation, P.O. Box 8489, Greenville, NC 27835. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
