The clouds were low and dark early Saturday morning over Carver Elementary School looking like the bottom could fall out at any moment. The threat of rain didn’t dampen spirits as runners showed up at the Gym to take part in the Outlaw Foundation 5K run and walk. The gym was packed with children and adults waiting to take part in the 5K. Before the run got underway more than 300 runners had already registered for the event. By race time a total of 319 runners were ready to take the streets for the run. Tri-County EMC had the largest crowd of staff and volunteers in this year’s event. Bill Outlaw of the Foundation welcomed all of the runners just before the release of over 200 balloons in honor of loved ones that have survived and died of cancer. This year there were shirts of different colors representing groups of walking teams.
