James Derwood Dawson, Sr

June 17, 85,

James Derwood Dawson, Sr, age 85 died Saturday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Born in Wayne County he was the son of the late Lee Ashton and Ruth Grant Dawson and was the husband of the late JoAnn Brogden Dawson.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Rev. Wade Parker and Rev. Kenneth Stevens officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be held in Wayne Memorial Park on Wednesday at 11:00 am.

Derwood retired from Live Wire Electric Company as an electrician and enjoyed farming during his leisure time.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law; James Derwood Dawson, Jr. and Tony and Kaye Dawson all of Goldsboro.

The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Kitty Askins Hospice Center 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534 or St. John’s FWB Church 1926 N.C Hwy 111 South Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.
