Staring At Eclipse Can Damage Your Eyes

(North Carolina News Network)–With the great American solar eclipse less than one week away, an Eastern Carolina eye specialist says now is the time for everyone to prepare. On August 21st, it will be hard to not look, as the moon eclipses the sun. Dr. Peter Van Houten is a retina specialist in Greenville. He tells WITN News looking at the eclipse with the naked eye could leave a permanent mark in the center or your vision.  Dr. Houten says it is imperative that everyone wear approved solar sunglasses with an approved ISO rating, or view the eclipse by making your own ‘pinhole’ observation box.
