At Tuesday’s meeting of the Wayne County Board of Commissioners, County Manager George Wood announced he will retire on December 31st of this year.  Wood says the advanced notice should give the county time to have new County Manager and Assistant County Manager in place by January 1st 2018.  Wood also acknowledged the work of the county commissioners over the past few years.  Wood was named Wayne County’s interim manager in February of 2014, and he was appointed the new Wayne County Manager in June of 2014.
