Deborah Speas Peacock, 64, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Deborah was born in Morganton on May 22, 1953 to the late Herbert M. Speas Sr. and Dorothy Pratt Speas. She had worked as an ethnographer, editor, and paralegal for many years. Deborah was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

The family will greet friends in the Administration Building Parlor of St. Paul United Methodist Church beginning at 1:00 PM on Sunday, September 17th. This will be followed by a Celebration of Deborah’s life in the Fellowship Hall at 2:00 PM to be led by Pastor James Harry.

Deborah is survived by her husband, Banks Peacock; son, Clark Peacock of Goldsboro; brother, Herbert M. Speas Jr. and wife Marchalle of Morganton; and her step-mother, Josie Speas of Morganton.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to St. Paul United Methodist Church 204 E. Chestnut Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or to StageStruck, 121 W. Chestnut Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or to UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, Campus Box #7295, Chapel Hill, NC 27599-7295.
