Two Arrested For Pot At Hwy. 70 Checkpoint

Officers make a significant marijuana-dealing arrest during the latest checkpoint set up by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office’s ACE Team and DWI Task Force. On Sunday, officers working the checking station on U.S. Highway 70 reportedly smelled pot coming from a vehicle driven by 29-year old Mauriceo J. Garvin of Fayetteville. During a further search of the vehicle, officers allegedly found nearly 650-grams of marijuana, four-grams of MDMA, and a stolen firearm.  Garvin and his passenger, 22-year old Jamari S. White of Fayetteville, were arrested for charges including counts of Possession with Intent to Sell Marijuana, Possession of MDMA, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.  Garvin’s bond was set at $20,000 secured, and White’s bond was set at $11,000.
