Suspect Arrested For Weekend Shooting

A report of shots fired leads to an arrest in Goldsboro. GPD officers responded to the call on the 200-block of N. Carolina Street around 7 PM Sunday.  Witnesses advised a black male in a black hoodie and black long shorts had fired the shots and then ran west. Witnesses then called back and informed officers the suspect was back in the area.  Officers located 23-year old Robert L. Cole, who matched the suspect description. Cole was also allegedly found with a .32 caliber handgun.  He was arrested and taken to the Wayne County Jail on a $10,000 secured bond.  Cole faces charges including Discharging a Firearm in City Limits and Possession of Controlled Substance on Jail Premise.

Thank you Gail! Not that it needed to be said, however, I am glad you did. Its no talking or replying to people who already know everything. It’s just sad that in this day and age people are still so quick to stereotype individuals based on what they look like. In no way am I condoning what this young man has done, but people need to realize that all stereotyping does is make the divide in our country worse. SMH at some people

@ kialboots in case you didn’t know your comment is in direct violation of rule #2 on the goldsborodailynews. African American does not always equal section 8. Educate yourself please and thank you.

One third of goldsboro’s residents live in public housing or section 8. So just based on that he has a 33% chance of being right. Through the reporting on this website, statistics show that violent crime in goldsboro is overwelmingly originates in the government housing areas of the city. I conclude he has about a 75% chance of being correct about this guy being raised on the tax payers dime. People lie, probabilty doesnt.

I happen to know his family personally, and I am not excusing his behavior. But this is one ‘thug’ that did not grow up in section 8 housing AND was raised in a two parent household. Now if you want to go with statistics, it’s about over 50% chance that you’ve had lice, 65% chance that you will be sunburned in any given summer, and 100% chance that once you attain a minimal amount of perspiration, you will emit a smell highly similar to that of the canine species.

Chickens never learn. Don’t roost in another coop. Stay in your taxpayer funded section 8 breeding ground.
