Alice Jennie Bowen Green

Alice Jennie Bowen Green, 92, went to be with her Lord on Friday, October 20, 2017 while she was surrounded by her family at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Alice was born in Warrensburg, New York on May 30, 1925 to the late Leroy and Iona Petteys Bowen. She was married to the late Owen Clyde Green, who preceded her in death on July 28, 2009. Alice enjoyed the opportunities given to her by helping to impact the lives of so many students while serving as an elementary school teacher. She was a member of Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church. Alice was a generous and gracious woman. She will be remembered for the love and laughter that she shared during her well-lived life.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church followed by a service to celebrate Alice’s life in the sanctuary with Rev. Colby Leonard, Rev. Dr. John Dutton and Rev. Robert Bandy officiating.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Karen Rains and husband, Glenn of Goldsboro; her sons, Lt. Col. (Retired) Gary Green and wife, Julie of Wilmington, Paul Green of Oklahoma City, OK, and SMSGT (Retired) David Green and wife, Patricia of Edmeston, NY; her sister, Marilyn Marston of Berwyn, PA; her sister in law, Joan Bowen of Warrensburg, NY; six grandchildren, Allison Green, Rev. Lindsey Green Eklund (Scott), Shelby Green Holman (Dan), Joseph Green, Corey Green and Hillary Rains Taylor (Jeshua); and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church, 2803 E. Ash Street, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
