Thanksgiving Travel Period Underway

Millions take to the roads starting today making the annual journey to visit family and friends for Thanksgiving.

If you are driving to visit loved ones for the holidays, it’s recommended you try to leave early to travel during non-peak hours, put down your cellphone and focus on the road, be patient and obey the posted speed limit.

Law enforcement throughout North Carolina will participate in the annual Click It or Ticket seatbelt enforcement effort throughout the Thanksgiving travel period.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has suspended most lane and road closures on major highways to assist motorists during the busy holiday travel period.
