Edgewood Community Developmental School Anniversary

A Wayne County school is preparing to mark half a century of education. The Edgewood Community Developmental School, located at 1601 Peachtree Street in Goldsboro, will hold its 50th Anniversary Celebration this Friday, Dec. 8th from 9:30 AM until 12:00 PM.

Tasha Christian Adams is the Principal at Edgewood Community Developmental School. She says they’re hoping the community will take part in Friday’s event, particularly Edgewood alumni.

Adams says the Wayne County Public School serves students with developmental disabilities ages 3-22.  The Edgewood Community Developmental School Mission is to develop independence and positive social interaction so all students can be actively involved in their community.  Adams says Edgewood’s program was originally conceptualized in October of 1967 by a local church.

The Edgewood Community Developmental School’s 50th anniversary celebration starts with a parade at 9:30 AM this Friday.  Attendees can then view artwork from the school’s students and enjoy a program hosted by students.
