Shelter Fire Destroys Several Vehicles

Tuesday afternoon, firefighters from Grantham, Jordan Chapel, and Thoroughfare were dispatched to a working structure fire at 405 Paul Hare Road. As fire units arrived they found a shelter fully involved behind the home of Merlene Best. Underneath the shelter was a truck and a car along with a golf cart and riding lawnmower. Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control within a few minutes, and kept the fire from spreading to the house. Firefighters removed the tin to make sure that all the hot spots were out. The shelter and it’s contents were a total loss. The cause of the fire has been listed as undetermined. Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour and a half.
