New NC Driver’s Ed Law Goes Into Effect

(NORTH CAROLINA NEWS NETWORK) — Several new North Carolina laws took effect Monday– one of them mandates additional reading for driver’s ed students that teaches new motorists the how-to’s of a traffic stop. In his years on the job, State Highway Patrol trooper Rico Stephens says he’s seen just about everything. He tells WLOS News that many moving violations often involve newer drivers.  All driver’s ed students will get a handbook that includes information on how to pull over if they see blue lights in the rearview, as well as how a motorist should behave and engage with officers. The new law also calls for at least six hours of anti-drinking and driving education.
