Government Shutdown Begins

WASHINGTON (AP) — The government shutdown has begun. So has the finger-pointing.

President Donald Trump says Democrats wanted to give him “a nice present” to mark the one-year anniversary of his inauguration.

He says Democrats “could have easily made a deal but decided to play Shutdown politics instead.”

In a series of tweets hours after the shutdown began, the president is trying to make the case for Americans to elect more Republicans in the November elections “in order to power through this mess.”

It’s a striking display of Washington’s dysfunction as the shutdown halts all but the most essential operations.

Congress has scheduled an unusual Saturday session to begin considering a three-week version of the short-term spending measure — and to let the public know they’re at work as the shutdown starts.

Take a look at the Durbin/Graham bill and you will see that it granted amnesty to over 8 million people did not fund the wall and would continue chain migration. No wonder it never made it to the Presidents desk.

Good try. Dems agreed to everything Trump asked for on border security – $ for the wall, changes in diversity lottery and chain migration, E-verify. He still couldn’t overcome his prejudices to cut the deal and solve this issue. There’s one man responsible for this shutdown and he’s in the White House.

Just because you don’t like something doesn’t make it false. Follow the news and you might know what’s going on. The agreement worked out by Dick Durbin and Lindsey Graham addressed each of these issues, including $2.7 billion towards border security. When they met with President Trump he proclaimed to love it, then went off the rails about how immigrants from Africa and Central America came from “s-hole” countries before condemning the bill. The problem is best summed up by Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.): “our country was founded by geniuses but it’s being run by idiots.”

Literally any news source you check, from “MSM” sources like CNN to “conservative “ sources like the Washington Times covered the contents of the proposal.

You realize he was presented no bill to sign. There is no news source that states what you have stated. I take that back, Don Lemon might have said that.

All of these news sites are stating that democrats end filibuster.

You want to continue on about how the republicans caused this?
