Food Lion Donates Big Rig To Food Bank

(NORTH CAROLINA NEWS NETWORK) — The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina serves more than 600,000 people in 34 counties throughout the state, and food donations are continuously being dispersed to the 800 feeding agencies in its coverage area.

To help with the distribution, Food Lion on Thursday donated a big rig to the Food Bank.

Troy Leshko — a Food Lion Vice President and Food Bank board member — says the grocery stores, themselves, also serve the Food Bank with localized distribution of products.

Along with the donation of the “tractor,” Food Lion also donated a trailer with 25,000 lbs of food, which will be sorted to make more than 135,000 meals for those in need.
