Emily Castelloe Erwin, 87, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Eagle’s Pointe.

Emily was born in Bertie County on April 4, 1930 to the late William C. Castelloe and Gurtha Mitchell Castelloe. She was married to the late Dr. Clyde A. Erwin, Jr. Emily enjoyed the opportunities given to her by helping to impact the lives of so many students while serving as a teacher with Wayne County Public Schools. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A private graveside service for the family will be held at Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Phyllis Vail officiating.

Emily is survived by her daughters, Cheri Williford and husband Lynwood Williford, Jr. of Goldsboro and Stacy Blahove and husband Mark of Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Cassi Gardiner, Maria Blahove, Alex Williford, Joshua Bayer and Jenn Mittenberger; great-grandchildren, Scott Gardiner, Jamie Gardiner and Miles Mittenberger; and her son-in-law, John Keller of Norfolk, VA.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Keller and son, Chip Erwin.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be given to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or to Eagle’s Pointe Resident Fund, 901 New Hope Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530; Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court , Goldsboro, NC 27534, or to Wayne County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 821, Goldsboro, NC 27533.
