Victim Struck With Pipe During Attempted Robbery

A victim is taken to the hospital following an attempted robbery in Goldsboro. Around 1:30 AM Wednesday, the victim reported he was attacked as he walked toward the Irish Inn through the Holiday Inn Express parking lot off Sunburst Drive. An unknown white male wearing a blue hat, brown coveralls and black work boots reportedly struck the victim in the chest with a pipe and then attempted to grab the victim’s wallet.  After the unsuccessful attempt, the suspect fled the scene heading east.  Goldsboro Police Department officers checked the area, but could not locate anyone matching the description. According to the GPD, the victim showed no visible injuries but was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
