Car Crashes Into Power Pole Along Hwy. 13 (PHOTO GALLERY)

Around 3:10 Tuesday morning, members of the Saulston Fire Department were awoken from their sleep to respond to a single vehicle accident with possible injuries on Highway 13 North just south of Saulston Road. Wayne County EMS Medic 5 was also dispatched to the scene. As emergency responders arrived, they found a car had run off the road, struck a light pole and broke it off at ground level. The car came to rest facing northeast in a ditch. The female driver was taken to Wayne UNC  in Goldsboro to by checked out for minor injuries. The power was knocked out for several hours in that area as workers replaced the utility pole. The accident is being investigated by the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
