A pair of special guests help celebrate Rosewood High School’s championship wrestling season.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Mark Johnson and N.C. House Majority Leader John Bell visited the local school Monday and presented a certificate and the flag that was flown over the state capital in honor of Rosewood High’s state wrestling championship.

Rosewood Wrestling Coach Bill Edmundson says it was an honor to have the recognition from the state leaders.  Edmundson says he will be retiring after leading Rosewood Wrestling for 26 years.

The State Superintendent had also announced on Monday that the N.C. Department of Public Instruction is making nearly $5 million available to district and charter schools in the state to be used for additional K-3 literacy support. Every district and charter school with early elementary grades will receive $200 for each K-3 reading teacher to purchase literacy materials.
