(NORTH CAROLINA NEWS NETWORK) — Governor Roy Cooper is traveling the state laying out his priorities for workforce development, a primary focus for his administration as he seeks to ensure more North Carolinians are ready for the jobs of today and tomorrow. The program is called “Hometown Strong”. He discussed his initiative in Madison in the western part of the state on Tuesday.  Hometown Strong will be a partnership between state and local government, businesses and nonprofits, working together on issues like infrastructure, workforce training and internet access. The goal of Hometown Strong is to identify specific needs of people in each community.  Six counties have been identified for the initial Hometown Strong partnerships, including Lenoir County.
