Poor People’s Campaign Launching In N.C.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina is one of 30 locations nationwide where the Poor People’s Campaign is launching its six weeks of nonviolent direct action.

Campaign officials say activists will protest Monday at the Bicentennial Mall in Raleigh, near the General Assembly building. Protesters support an overhaul of voting rights laws; new programs to help the millions of Americans who live in poverty; environmental protections; and other issues.

The rally in North Carolina is one of more than 30 actions that the Poor People’s Campaign has planned for Monday nationwide. This event will focus on the needs of women, young people, the disabled and children living in poverty.

The Rev. William Barber is one of two campaign leaders. Barber is a North Carolina minister and former president of the state NAACP chapter.

The good thing is that more educated people are moving into Rosewood from the Raleigh area. They’re changing Rosewood, and out voting the locals. They usually value diversity more than the locals.

There is a lot of poor people that live in our county and do need the help. No question about that. My point is that the one’s getting a free handout that do not work, nor do they want to because they know that the government will dish it out to them. If they work then their benefits will be cut back and we don’t want to do that……yeah really. Sometimes I wonder do they even want to try?????

Eagle Eye. Could not be said any better. Working and having a job helps everything. Including hunger, self esteem and general attitude. It always feels better to contribute than to have to take hand outs. Almost all people are able to work.

  4. “Nonviolent direct action” which apparently means to break laws and cause a disturbance, which is why the Rev, Barber and the Rev. Liz Theoharis, the campaign’s two co-chairmen, were arrested outside the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC today. Does this “man of God” ever do anything but cause problems and agitate?

No he does not have anything else to do but stir the pot. He can’t be much of a preacher, let alone one that I would want to hear.

So, another Liberal love fest, is that all these people do? Maybe I can assist a little for them. (1) They want to overhaul voting rights laws, I suggest making them all have an ID to vote since Liberals have the highest incidents of voter fraud. (2) New programs for those who live in poverty, I recommend working. If you are physically able and of sound mind and your life is a failure then it’s your fault! (3) Environmental Protections, It was Obama’s administration that contaminated the Colorado river which they tried to cover up. I would stop listening to the quack Al Gore. We all should take care of our
environment. The triangle is already being infected by this epidemic of liberalism and Wayne Co. schools has had several instances where it is being pushed in from outside sources.

Wayne County Schools need someone to push them, outside sources, or not. Bring true diversity, adjust the district lines, and for goodness sake, improve the academics in Wayne County Schools! We’re no longer living in 1950’s, 60’s, or 70’s!

It’s about ending ”white flight” to certain areas, such as Rosewood, which is not a very good school, academically. Adjust the attendance lines, which have not been changed in many, many, years, and preparing Wayne County for the future!

Who knows, maybe someone may want to pray to Allah in Oakland, or at “Egypt” in the Neuse Islands ? I know “y’all” love that!

So you are not for freedom of movement and association. Outside of that how does one propose ending white flight. When whites reverse white flight its called getrification and most “diversity is our strength” people are angered by it.

I have no dog in the fight but according to greatschools rosewood is rated higher than the goldsboro/eastern wayne elementry, middle and highschools.

          • Jesus says:

How about Denver Colorado and the regentrification projects.

Whites move out….its a problem. Whites move in, home prices go up, and it’s a problem due to pricing locals out.

Maybe non whites should concentrate on bettering themselves instead of focus all energy on whites being the problem.
