Ola Mae Anderson Seymour

May 20, 98, La Grange

Ola Mae Anderson Seymour, 98, peacefully passed away to her Heavenly reward on Sunday, May 20, 2018. Ola Mae was born September 15, 1919 in Wayne County to the late James Henry Anderson and Lucy Newsome Anderson. Her husband, Edward Earl Seymour, and a daughter, Cynthia Seymour Sutton, preceded Ola Mae in death.

Ola Mae’s love for her Lord and family were the main themes of her life. She personified the woman spoken of in Proverbs 31. Ola Mae lived out her faith and showed concern for others in all she did. A true prayer warrior for Christ, Ola Mae loved spending time daily in her Bible and developing a closer relationship with her Lord. She was a founding charter member of Trinity Free Will Baptist Church.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Ola Mae truly relished her role as matriarch to her family. Forced to be a single mother at a very young age, her life has been a true inspiration to her family.

A visit from the grandchildren and great-grandchildren always brought a smile and sparkle to her eye. She loved sharing stories with her family about days gone by. Ola Mae’s family have many fond memories of being gathered around her table enjoying her southern cooking. Always cooking from scratch, Ola Mae’s chicken pastry, country style steak and homemade biscuits were always family favorites. Her homemade cakes were always a hit. Ola Mae often used her gifts in the kitchen to bless others hurting or in need.

Always busy, she loved arranging flowers and always enjoyed the challenge of a good crossword puzzle.

A service to honor and celebrate Miss Ola Mae’s life will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Rouse Funeral Home with Pastor Gerald Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Ola Mae is survived by two daughters, Edna S. Williamson and husband, John, and Elizabeth S. Gray and husband, Jerry; son, David Seymour and wife, Wilma; five grandchildren, Jay Sutton and wife, Vickie, Jonathan Williamson, David Williamson and wife, Stephanie, Jaime Latham and husband, Matt, and Stacie Gray; and seven great-grandchildren, Katie Sutton, J.W. Sutton, Krista Williamson, Alexis Williamson, Eli Williamson, Cayleb Latham and Claire Latham. All of Ola Mae’s siblings preceded her in death.
