KPD Offers Child Safety Tips

May 25th is National Missing Children’s Day.  The day was created in 1983 to encourage parents, guardians, caregivers, and others to make child safety a priority.

The Kinston Police Department is offering some child safety tips for National Missing Children’s Day:

  • Teach kids their contact information including their full name, home address and telephone number. Also, teach children to not share that information with anyone they do not know without your permission.
  • Practice safe social media and talk to your children about the risks of sharing too much personal information online.
  • Listen to your child if they say someone makes them uncomfortable, and ask questions to understand why.
