Over 21 Years In Prison For Hobbs Act Robbery & Gun Charge

The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina has announced 38-year-old Devon Waters of Goldsboro has been sentenced to 261 months imprisonment followed by five years of supervised release.  Waters is the second person convicted for the May 2016 armed robbery of a Family Dollar in Goldsboro.  The suspects allegedly fired a gun during the robbery in an effort to make the clerk give up the money quicker.  A third person also drove a getaway vehicle and shots were fired at a pursuing officer.  The case was investigated by the Goldsboro Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives. Waters had entered guilty pleas to Conspiracy to Commit Interference with Commerce by Robbery and Discharging a Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence and Aiding and Abetting.
