Recovery Funds Announced For Wayne County

Nearly $8 million is coming to Wayne County to help homeowners still recovering following Hurricane Matthew.

North Carolina Emergency Management has announced over $7.8 million has been awarded to Wayne County through the most recent round of Hazard Mitigation Grants.

That funding will be used to buyout 84 properties, with nine in Seven Springs already pending historical clearance.

The money for Wayne County is part of $20.8 million in federal and state funds to buyout, elevate or reconstruct North Carolina homes damaged by the 2016 storm.
