The 4th Fighter Wing loses a deployed airman.

Staff Sergeant James T. Grotjan assigned to the 4th Civil Engineering Squadron died on Thursday, July 12th, at the Landsthul Regional Medical Center in Germany.

Grotjan sustained injuries in a non-combat related incident on July 8th at Al Dhafra Air Base in United Arab Emirates.

Staff Sergeant Grotjan was deployed supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

The incident is under investigation.

Col. Donn Yates, the Commander of the 4th Fighter Wing at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, says Grotjan was an integral part of the 4th Fighter Wing team, and our thoughts are with his family, friends, and teammates.
