Bruce Donald Wilson

Bruce Donald Wilson, 54, of Burlington, died at 1:21 PM Sunday, August 5, 2018, at home.


Born September 18, 1963, he was the son of Donald E. and Dorothy Jean Neff Wilson. On December 1, 2006, he married Sherry L. Williamson. 


He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving from January 11, 1985 until December 31, 2010, retiring after 26 years. 


Bruce was a sports fanatic. He was a Cubs, Bears, and Hawkeye fan. He was a great pool player, he also enjoyed playing Nintendo with his kids. Bruce was a jack of all trades, he could fix anything. Bruce had a great sense of humor, he loved people, most of all his friends and family. 


Survivors include his wife, Sherry, of Burlington; one daughter Heather(Scott) Summers and one son Blake Wilson both of Goldsboro NC; one brother, Daniel Wilson of Burlington; three sisters, Linda (Michael) Vorwerk of Hamilton, NJ, Sharon (Tony) Stuart of New London, Lori Warner of Charlotte, NC; one brother in law Andy Prawitz.


He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Ann Prawitz and Debbie Derby.


Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends following a 5:00 PM Rosary Service until 7:00 PM, Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at  Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.


The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Wilson will be 10:00 AM Thursday, August 9, 2018, at Divine Mercy Parish-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir led by Sue Hackenmiller. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, West Burlington. Full military honors will be rendered by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.


In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
