New Economic Director Meets The County Commissioners

Wayne County welcomes its new economic director.

Mark Pope has been appointed the new Economic Developer for the county.

County Manager Craig Honeycutt introduced Pope to the Wayne County Board of Commissioners Tuesday.

Pope says he’s looking forward to creating jobs and investment in the Wayne County community.

Pope, currently the Economic Director for Lenoir County, will assume the new position on August 20th.

A Lenoir County native and East Carolina University graduate, Pope has served as the Economic Director in his home county since 2005, and currently serves as the President of the North Carolina Economic Directors Association.
