Suspect Accused Of Trying To Rob Bank In Deep Run

A woman is accused of attempting to rob a Lenoir County bank. The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the robbery attempt at Southern Bank in Deep Run on Friday.  The suspect had apparently presented a note demanding money and stating she had a gun.  Witnesses said they saw the suspect leave the scene in a vehicle.  A vehicle matching the description was pulled over minutes later on Highway 11 South.  The driver attempted to flee the traffic stop but quickly ran off the road and was arrested.  32-year-old Shante Sutton of Greenville is charged with Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Felony Speeding to Elude Arrest.  She was held at the Lenoir County Detention Center under a$60,000 secured bond.
