Single Vehicle Accident Flips Van

(GoldsboroDailyNews.com)–Late Sunday afternoon a single vehicle accident happened on U.S. 117 bypass between old Smith Chapel Road and Less Country Club Road.

The driver wasn’t hurt in the crash but was checked out by Wayne County EMS Station 8. Mount Olive Fire Department responded along with Mount Olive Police responded to the scene as well.

The Penske truck was heading south on U.S. 117 when the driver ran off the right side of the road, over-corrected, came back onto the highway, over-corrected a second time causing the vehicle to run back off the side the second time and overturning on the driver side.

The accident is being investigated by the North Carolina Highway Patrol. Several MOPD officers remained on the scene to assist. Mount Olive Police officer, S. Williams stayed on the scene and kept the family cat safe and cool while waiting for there daughter to arrive from Wilmington.
