Gov. Cooper Signs Hurricane Relief Bills

(NORTH CAROLINA NEWS NETWORK) — Governor Roy Cooper took action Wednesday to help in Hurricane Florence relief efforts.

The governor signed into law two bills lawmakers sent to his desk Tuesday after a special session.

One of the bills is aimed at untangling the public school calendar.

Another bill will create a disaster relief fund worth over $65 million.

Speaking in Johnston County, Cooper said North Carolina will have to rebuild wisely from Florence.

Lawmakers said they wanted these recovery efforts to start as soon as humanly possible.
