Wayne County Escapes Much Of Michael’s Devastation

What a difference a day can make.

Some of the worst predictions for the remnants of Hurricane Michael failed to materialize in Wayne County Thursday.

However, Tropical Storm Michael did drop a large amount of rain west of Goldsboro in areas including the Triangle and Triad.

According to the National Weather Service, a wind gust of 46 MPH was recorded in Goldsboro around 7 PM Thursday.

Flooding predictions for the Neuse River have also diminished with the river expected to crest just shy of 11 feet near Goldsboro late Monday, well below even minor flood stage.
