Sheriff’s Office Seeks Info On Vehicle Theft, Card Fraud Suspect

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a person-of-interest in an ongoing investigation.

Around 2:30 AM on November 25th, Mar-Mac firefighters responded to a vehicle fire at a vacant residence on the 700 block of Sandhill Road in Dudley.  The fire was deemed suspicious and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to provide assistance.

The responding deputy observed that a fire had been set in the driver’s seat of a tan 2004 Ford Ranger pickup truck. The deputy checked the registration plate and identified the owner’s information.  Another deputy made contact with vehicle owner, a Goldsboro resident.  The victim was unaware that her truck had been taken.  While speaking with the deputy, the victim discovered that her Burgundy 2010 Toyota Hybrid had been broken into and several things had been stolen out of it, including her debit card.

The victim contacted her financial institution to cancel her card and was advised that her card had already been used at an ATM in the Mar-Mac area around 01:42 AM.

Photos from the ATM were requested by the investigator.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, call or text Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255, or submit a tip online at p3tips.com.
