Deadline For Farmers To Apply For Disaster Assistance

(NORTH CAROLINA NEWS NETWORK) — The state legislature has appropriated $240 million for farmers who lost crops in the field to hurricanes this fall.

However, as of Thursday, only about 3,500 farmers have submitted applications.

Larry Wooten, president of the N.C. Farm Bureau, admits that it’s a busy time for planters, but he is urging them to go online and fill out the form soon.
