State Board Approves Carver Heights Restart

Carver Heights Elementary School in Goldsboro will be able to begin its Restart initiatives.

Thursday, the N.C. State Board of Education approved the resubmitted Restart application submitted by Wayne County Public Schools.

Amy White, the Chair of the Education Innovation and Charter Schools Committee, says the updated Restart application means Carver Heights will maintain its School Improvement Grant funding, make calendar modifications and leadership changes.

Carver Heights Elementary had been targeted for transfer into the N.C Innovative School District due to the local school’s low performance grades.

By having its Restart application approved, WCPS can avoid the ISD takeover or potential shuttering of Carver Heights Elementary.
