WCPS Announces Plans For Filling Vacant Board Seat

On Friday, the Wayne County Board of Education met in open session during a Special Called Meeting and adopted the following criteria, method and schedule for filling the open Board seat vacated by Raymond Smith on January 4:

  • January 11-15: Using an application packet previously used by the Pender County BOE for filling a vacated Board seat as the foundation, the WCPS Superintendent, Board Chair and attorney will make any final modifications to the local application packet.
  • January 16: The finalized application packet will be available to the public both online at http://www.waynecountyschools.org/ and at the WCPS Administrative Offices located at 2001 E. Royall Avenue in Goldsboro.
  • January 30 (5 PM): The deadline for physical or online receipt of fully completed application packets, regardless of postmark.
  • February 1 (10 AM): The Wayne County BOE will hold a special called meeting to review applications, select interview questions, and add interview dates if needed.
  • February 7 (6 PM): The Wayne County BOE will hold a special called meeting to interview candidates.

The February 1 and February 7 meetings will be held in the Executive Board Room of the WPCS Administrative Offices, located at 2001 E. Royall Avenue in Goldsboro. Both meetings will be open to the public.
