Plunge For The Colors This Saturday

The unseasonably warm temperatures are expected to plummet by this weekend, and yet many local residents plan to brave the cold and take a chilly dip all for a good cause.

The Plunge for the Colors is being held at Cliffs of the Neuse State Park on Saturday.

Georgia Dees is the Executive Director of the Arts Council of Wayne County.

She says proceeds from the plunge go toward Southeastern Cancer Care and youth programs at the Arts Council of Wayne County.

For those not necessarily ready to brave the brisk waters, Dees says there will be other activities as part of the event, including a craft for kids, a dance group, prizes and more.

Dees is even getting ready to take the plunge for the first time this year.

The Plunge for the Colors is being held at the swim lake at Cliffs of the Neuse.

The activities start at 10 AM this Saturday, Feb 9, and the participants starting plunging into the lake at noon.

North Carolina State Parks and Wayne UNC Health Care are sponsors for the Plunge for the Colors.

Participants plunge into the Cliffs of the Neuse swim lake in 2017.
