Sen. Perry Swearing In (PHOTOS)

The new state senator representing parts of Wayne and Lenoir counties is sworn into office.

Jim Perry was sworn in as the District 7 Senator during a ceremony at the Maxwell Center in Goldsboro Thursday evening.

Perry says he’s been spending time in learning about his new office in Raleigh since his appointment last week.

With Gov. Cooper pushing for bipartisan support for Medicaid expansion in the state, Sen. Perry says he’s starting to “dig into” the issue.

Perry, a businessman from Lenoir County, was appointed by local Republicans to replace Louis Pate.

In January, Pate, a fellow Republican, announced he would step down as the state senator representing District 7 due to ongoing health concerns
