Visitor Restrictions At Wayne UNC During Peak Flu Season

Wayne UNC Health Care is temporarily limiting hospital visitations due to the flu.

Effective at 8 AM Monday, Feb. 11, Wayne UNC Health Care is implementing the new visitor restrictions.

Visitors 12 and under are prohibited from visiting the hospital. This applies to all patient rooms and includes the emergency department, surgery center, registration areas and waiting rooms. The Wayne UNC team also asks that individuals who have been sick with fever, runny nose, nasal drainage or a sore throat, not visit the hospital unless they are receiving medical care. As an alternative, parents can encourage their children to write letters to a loved one or stay connected through Skype or Facetime.

Wayne UNC has been monitoring flu activity at the hospital and in the community.  Chandra Newsome, the Director of Infection at Wayne UNC, says they’ve seen 222 positive flu cases during this flu season.
