Police Respond To Weekend Gunfire

No one is charged after gunfire rings out on Spruce Street in Goldsboro. Around 10:45 PM Saturday, ShotSpotter alerted on two gunshots in the area of the 300 block of E. Spruce Street.  A deputy sheriff in the area heard the shots and saw a group of juveniles running from the scene.  Officers with the Goldsboro Police Department arrived in the area and made contact with the juveniles.  However, officers were not able to find any firearm.  Two .380 caliber spent shell casings were discovered on the 300 block of E. Spruce Street.

In a separate shooting incident last week, a Rose Hill resident told the Goldsboro Police Department he had to fire a gun at a charging dog on the 1000 block of Mulberry Street. The victim stated he thought the dog was going to bite him so he fired one round at the ground in front of the canine.  According to the police report, the GPD has responded to that area before in reference to a dog bite by the same dog.  Animal Control responded to the scene and took over the investigation.
